We have all been to restaurants in touristy areas where the menu has some dubious translations. This one is from a nice place in my hometown, Zell, and I must admit I have never ordered either of these two dishes simply because I would not be able to keep a straight face!! I dread to think where the “cumcumbers” get inserted! So the moral of this story is, never trust Google Translate!
I mentioned in a previous blog posting a Kindle book I was reading and I promised to give an update on it once I had finished reading it so here we go…
The book is “German Men Sit Down To Pee And Other Insights Into German Culture” and as you will guess from that, it is a jovial look at the Germans and their unique ways. It is written by James Cave, a well travelled Irishman with experience of German life, and Niklas Frank, a German who is experienced in dealing with bewildered expats.
I spent Sunday afternoon steam cleaning the interior of my car, so perhaps my next posting will be from a police cell…!
If this were true in every case, then German certainly would be a scary language! The guy is crazy but hilarious though. Enjoy…!
A lot of non-Germans consider German pronunciation to sound very harsh to the point of being scary.
Take a look at this video clip I found on YouTube – I will let you be the judge..!
