Over the weekend of 15th and 16th December 2018 the stunning Reichsburg Castle in Cochem will hold its annual Christmas event. In keeping with the location, this event has a Medieval theme, so expect performers, market stalls offering all manner of traditional gift items as well as food and drink.
The highlight will be a performance of the traditional Christmas story by actors in historical costumes. The various courtyards and of the castle form a kind of living stage (complete with live animals), and despite the fact it will be in German, it is most atmospheric. A definite “must see” in my opinion.
The event is open from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. on both days, and entry fees are as follows:
- Adults €6
- Children €3
- Families (two adults and at least two children between 4 and 17 years old) €16
Unfortunately, no parking facilities are available at the castle so it will be necessary to walk up or take the Christmas Panoramic train which starts at the Endertplatz where the Tourist Information office is located.
