Craft and Christmas Market at the Ostrich Farm in Bengel

The ostrich farm (“Straussenfarm”) at Klostermühle Springiersbach halfway between Wittlich and Alf is holding a craft and Christmas market (“Handwerker und Weihnachtsmarkt”) on the weekend of 1st and 2nd December 2018.

The market will be open between 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday 1st December 2018, and between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday 2nd. Many traditional crafts will be demonstrated such as cloth and basket weaving, wood carving and blacksmithing. The emphasis will be on ‘watch and participate’ rather than just watch so it should be interesting for adults and children alike.

Given it is also a Christmas market, there will be festive activities and seasonal goods for sale also. This will be held in one of the big barns just in case the weather is not so good. Oh, and of course there will be ostrich around!

Whilst you are at the farm, it is worth popping over to Springiersbach just across the road. There you will find a Carmelite monastery complex with a Baroque church. Looking like something straight out of Bavaria, the exterior of this pretty church does not prepare you for the incredible Baroque interior – truly impressive and awe-inspiring.
