Farmer’s Market at the Ostrich Farm in Bengel

The ostrich farm (“Straussenfarm”) at Klostermühle Springiersbach halfway between Wittlich and Alf is holding a farmer’s market this weekend.

The market will be open between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Saturday 13th October, and between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Sunday 14th. As well as the usual produce one finds at farmer’s markets, there will be various animals for the children to adore and pet, old tractors, pony rides and more.

The ostrich farm is worth a visit even when the market is not taking place. It has a wonderful cafe serving great cakes and coffee as well as bratwurst made from ostrich meat (don’t tell the kids though), an ancient watermill, beautiful open countryside and of course the large feathered friends. There is also a Baroque church with a stunning interior just across the road at Springiersbach.

The website (in German) for the farm is http://www.straussenfarm-bengel.de/
