Guten Rutsch!

Junge Frau beim Silverstfeiern

Guten Rutsch ins neue Jahr! If you are wondering what on earth I am on about, that literally means “good slide into the New Year”, which one of the expressions the Germans use to wish someone a happy New Year. Ah, it is the subtle differences that make each language so interesting!

Anyway, here’s wishing everyone a very big HAPPY NEW YEAR and all the best for 2015 wherever you are. If you are in Germany or anywhere else where the celebrations involve copious amounts of fireworks, please take special care and consider animals who will be absolutely terrified by the noise. And also – at this risk of sounding like your mother here – please don’t drink and drive.

Until next year…
